Treatment for Fungal Nail Infections
Fungal nail infection (also known as onychomycosis) refers to an infection of the finger nails or toe nails by fungi. The infection is highly contagious therefore early treatment is important.
Nails can be infected by fungus due to nail trauma caused by sports and/or excessive moisture or the infection can be caught/spread in bathrooms, showers and swimming pools.
You have a fungal nail infection if:
- The rim of the nail is yellow or brown/ and or white spots on the nail.
- Nail is fully discoloured from whitish-yellow to yellowish-brown.
- Hardening and thickening of the nail.
